Red Grouper



Sunuk grouper or red grouper (Plectropomus leopardus) is a kind of fish of the family Serranidae found in American Samoa, Australia, Brunei, Cocos Islands, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Micronesia, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau Islands , Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Its name in English is coral trout, leopard coral grouper or leopard coral trout.

Natural habitat is open seas and coral.
The term "grouper sunuk" actually includes a number of species of fish, including:

     Plectropomus areolatus,
     Plectropomus laevis (stained blue),
     Plectropomus leopardus (grouper sunuk usual),
     Plectropomus maculatus (with cheek stripes).

Type grouper anglers sunuk is the main target in the area of ​​coral reefs along the coast of Queensland (Australia).
