Koi (Chinese and Japanese, Romaji: Koi) is a type of carp Cyprinus carpio that are kept for decorating the house, coming from China and widely spread in Japan. They are closely related to goldfish, and therefore many people call the real koi carp is a misnomer. Koi are thought to bring good luck.
