Fish Pancake Batfish



Fish Pancake Batfish Researchers identified new species "pancake batfish", a flat fish rarely seen due to the depth and darkness of their homes. The animals are named according to how stiff they "walk" along the sea bottom, like a bat crawling.
 
This fish is a species affected by the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico last year. Bears the Latin name Halieutichthys intermedius, these fish live in the waters.
With a body shape like a flat pancake, this fish has a strange movement. More like jumping with fins along the bottom of the sea, rather than swim.

Pancake batfish (Halieutichthys aculeatus). His name is adjusted in a way that is considered similar runs like a bat while it is crawled. Well recently, experts had found a new species of fish pancake batfish in the Gulf of Mexico.


There are two new fish pancake batfish species found. They are Halieutichthys intermedius and Halieutichthys bispinosus. Both of these animals had strong fins like a human arm. According to experts, the fins could serve to pull their bodies in the sea.

"Pancake batfish" has a flat and a rounded body with a large head and mouth that they can take it forward. They use a similar fin arm to pull their body along the ocean floor and the rear fin that changed a discharge to attract victims.

Pancake Batfish is a member of the anglerfish family Ogcocephalidae, A group of about 70 species of bottom dwellers that often live in the water is constantly in darkness. Batfishes Pancake has a big head and a mouth that can be pushed forward. This, combined with their ability to disguise them blend in with the surrounding environment, giving them an advantage for capturing prey.


They use their fins arm fat, like 'walk' along the substrate; their movement has been described as a strange thing, like a bat walk. Like most Anglerfishes, batfishes have a modified dorsal fin spine, although they secrete fluid to lure prey to the lure of light brighten.
