Upside Down Catfish ( Synodontis nigriventris )

Upside Down Catfish (Synodontis nigriventris), is the Congo river fish that has a unique way that swim upside down. S.nigriventris only have a maximum size of 9.6 cm, large eyes, wide dorsal fin, and three pairs of barbels (whiskers). Living in groups and are nocturnal so many spend their time hiding in the rocks all day. Synodontis nigriventris generally light brown with spots - dark brown spots in the employed several sizes.

Synodontis nigriventris an omnivorous fish by eating insect larvae, crustaceans, blood worms, some aquatic plants and other commercial foods. Young fish can not swim upside down before they are two months old. They live in conditions of water at 22 - 260C and pH 6 - 7.5. Females have a more rounded body and the colors more faded than the males. Breeding is very difficult process in the aquarium. Females will be more prepared when laying round. Set the water tank as the water during the rainy season (small hardness), an overturned pot or pipes that may be used as spawning. Parent will incubate the eggs, and the eggs will hatch after two days. Chicks newly hatched fish will bring their yolk for four days, after which they are ready to eat small shrimp. Turning a way of adaptation to avoid predators, abdomen darker than the back to make adaptations so much better.

 S.nigriventris addition, there are also S.contractus also known as the upside down catfish which larger body size.

Fish food consists primarily of grains for tropical fish, mosquito larvae, krill, brine shrimp and flies spinning.
